DISEC comments on Hogbetsotso festival
Ho, Oct 28, GNA - The Keta District Security Committee (DISEC) on Thursday said the decision on the celebration of this year''s Hogbetsotso Festival of the people of the Anlo Traditional Area should be made by the chiefs of the area.

A statement signed by Mr. Edward Ahiabor, District Chief Executive (DCE) as Chairman of the committee after a meeting, said the District Assembly "will however ensure that nobody is allowed to take the law into his or her own hands".

It warned that anybody who "fall foul of the law will be dealt with swiftly and appropriately".

The statement explained that the committee''s position was based on "various reactions it received since the publication of its decision to suspend the 2005 Hogbetsotso festival" and following "discussions of the issue in the presence of various stakeholders". "Having considered all matters placed before it, DISEC decided the celebration of this years Hogbetsotso Festival should be left to the discretion of the Chiefs of the Traditional Council".
