ôAngola, C te d''Ivoire, Ghana and Togo have all qualified for the FIFA World Cup™ finals for the first time in their history following wins in their preliminary matches on Saturday.
The four west African nations will be rubbing shoulders with the likes of Brazil, Germany, Argentina and the United States following their impressive record in the group stages.
Angola were the first African team to qualify, Fabrice Akwa''s 58th-minute strike giving his side a famous victory in Rwanda. Ghana completed their job with relative ease as they enjoyed a resounding 4-0 victory against the Cape Verde Islands, while Togo ran out 3-2 winners away against Congo.
The major drama came in Group 3 as Cameroon''s Pierre Wome missed an injury-time penalty against Egypt, which would have taken them through to Germany. His miss allowed Cote d''Ivoire, who won 3-1 in Sudan, to qualify for their first-ever finals.
