Appiah announces Ghana''s entry 10/10/2005
Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah, says Ghana would make an impact at next year’s World Cup finals in Germany.

The Ghana captain described Saturday’s world cup qualification as the best day in his soccer career.

After four decades of wait, Ghana finally qualified for the World Cup thumping Cape Verde 4-0 in Praia to finish top of Group 2 on 21 points.

“I am feeling good because it’s been a while since we tried qualifying for the world cup and today, we have made it. I am very happy,” Appiah said.

The Fenerbache midfielder stated after the game that he was happy to be the first captain to qualify Ghana for her maiden world cup.

"Today is the happiest day of my life. Every Ghanaian has been waiting for this," he said.

“This qualification is to prove to the whole world that Ghana has finally arrived and we would be making an impact at the world cup.

Appiah believes that Ghana would not be mere participants at the world stage but would be rubbing shoulders with the best teams in the world for the trophy.
