Ga-Adangbe celebrate Homowo Festival in Tamale
Tamale, Oct. 9, GNA - Nii Dodoo Henry, Chief of the Ga-Adangbe residents in the Northern Region on Saturday called on Gas to stay away from issues that would bring conflict but rather participate actively in activities that would bring development to improve on the lives of the people.

He therefore, urged them to respect the laws and authorities of the natives to enhance peaceful co-existence in the area. Nii Henry was addressing the Northern Region edition of the Homowo festival organised by Ga-Adangbe residents in the area. Dancing and singing traditional music, which brought along other ethnic groups to grace the event, characterized the occasion. Homowo literally means, a banquet occasion to drive away hunger or to forget hunger and it is being celebrated by Ga-Dangbe ethnic group. The festival also serve as a platform for the people to discuss pertinent issues of social interest and plan to address those that impact negatively on the lives of the people.

Nii Henry called on Gas and Adangbes to patronize the festival, saying that it is non-Ga-Adangbes who were rather patronizing the festival.

He urged them to change their attitudes and spirit and participate fully in the festival, pointing out that, "culture identifies the identity of a people" and those of them in the region should not be left out.
