Mahama leaves for US-Africa Leaders’ Summit 8/3/2014

President John Dramani Mahama will this evening leave Accra for the United States of America, to attend the US-Africa Leaders Summit in Washington DC, at the special invitation of President Barack Obama.
President Obama in his invitation expressed his special connection to Ghana, stating that he and US First Lady Michelle Obama would like to reciprocate the hospitality that Ghanaians showed them during their visit to Ghana in 2009.
The Summit, scheduled to take place on Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th August is under the theme: "Investing in the Next Generation."
A major highlight of President Mahama''s trip will be the signing of a new Compact with the Millennium Challenge Corporation, for funds worth more than half-a-billion US dollars to be devoted to solving the challenges facing Ghana''s Power / Energy Sector. This new Compact is expected to be a key turning point in ensuring the delivery of safe, reliable and secure power to all Ghanaians.
