Sport Fine not yet in Force –Police Administration 4/28/2013

The Police Administration wish to inform the public that the much advertised Spot Fine Regime is not yet in force.
It condemns any act by any Police Officer to extort money from motorists under the guise of the spot fine and urged motorists to be wary of such miscreant policemen and women and that any Police Officer caught in the act will be dealt with accordingly.

A statement signed by Cephas Arthur, Director of Public Affairs at the Police Headquarters and copied to the Ghana News Agency yesterday said when all is set for the implementation of the spot fine; adequate education will be carried out.

It said though the date for the implementation of the fine has been scheduled for the latter part of May this year, discussions with stakeholders are still on going to further extend it to allow for more education.

It said when the regime is rolled out, defaulters or offending drivers would not have to pay cash on the spot to the Police but would rather take a ticket and pay it at the bank and that the enforcement team would include a Police Inspector, who will issue the ticket.
