Okyeame Kwame gets colleagues’ support on ‘ecomini ecomini’ lines 9/2/2012
Our late President Mills is gone but his name still exits and news governing his death is still running. As we made it to the readers to know about the controversies which was hanging around Okyeame Kwame’s rap in the MUSIGA All Stars Tribute Song and his explanation to it.

The rap doctor after talking to Dave Hammer on Hello Fm explaining himself again saw so many celebrities calling on the show and some personally walking into the studio to support O.K to erase the view that he wrote the song to mock the late president.

The ‘Mr. Versatile’ man said after he heard people reading different meanings into his rap, he went to Graphic Showbiz to explain himself. And his reason for using those ‘ecomini ecomini’ in his rap was that, he wanted to tell Ghanaians to be ashamed for laughing at him when he said that.

After his explanation, Skwabo Nana, a radio presenter at Kesben Fm called to support Okyeame saying O.K is not an artiste who depends on controversy to make his songs hit. He is creative in his raps and as a poet he doesn’t rap just like that.

He raps for the listener to replay the song and think about it. So we should not just attack him by only the first two words he used but we should listen to the whole raps and judge him after if that was really what he meant.

Andy Dosty who was with Angel FM and currently hosting showbiz on TV also entered the studio to defend the rap doctor. “Before these controversies, Graphic Showbiz had published the lyrics of the whole track. I was shocked when people started miss-translating his raps.

There could not have been any name he would have used in place of ‘ecomini’ ecomini’ to suite his lines so we should understand him” Andy said movie Producer/Director James Aboakye was also at the studio to explain what the ‘Sika’ hit maker meant.

The very first day he listened to the music it took him aback. So he replayed it and got to know that it’s a tribute song and in a tribute song you point out what the person did and that was the very first mistake he did and Ghanaians used to laugh at him with that. It was just to reminisce of how the man was.

He pleaded on Okyeame’s behalf to those who are pursuing certain agenda to listen to the song well because what he said was metaphorical and it shouldn’t be listened with a lame man’s understanding.
