Daasebre Shakes Lake Bosomtwe On Republic Day 7/1/2012

Highlife icon Daasebre Dwamena is set to perform at Abono at Lake Bosomtwe in celebration of Republic Day.
Taking place on Monday, July 2, 2012, the second edition of the merry-making event is dubbed ‘Abono Lake Party.’
The event, which is expected to be graced by about 8000 people, is a brain child of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) and it is aimed, among other things, at opening the area to investors.
The Ashanti Regional Director of GTA, Ekow Sampson, said the programme is being supported by the Bosomtwe District Assembly and Multi Media. He noted that last year’s edition was successful, with about 7000 people gracing the show, adding that he hoped for about 8000 people this year.
Mr. Sampson said the event was geared towards promoting Lake Bosomtwe, exposing the area to the outside world, promoting tourism, attracting investors and demonstrating to the public that activities at Lake Bosomtwe could be organized without incident.
The GTA Regional boss stated that his outfit and its supporters were hoping to make the event a major programme that would in the near future extend to all the surrounding villages along the lake.
He entreated the general public to troop to Abono at Lake Bosomtwe in their numbers to make the event a grand one, assuring them that they would enjoy themselves to the maximum.
Mathew Osei Prempeh, Senior Quality Assurance Officer, Ashanti region, said there would be tug of war, swimming competition and other activities to entertain the attendants.
He added that other groups such as Metro Mix Brass Band and Apso Band would also be on display to support Daasebre Dwamena.
Mr. Osei Prempeh said there would be a “park and ride” system whereby the attendants would park their car at a secured area and board a waiting bus which would ferry them to Abono.
He stated that there would be massive security at the venue, disclosing that the security and protection of attendants would be secured.
