Black Stars Leap To 22nd…On FIFA Ranking Table 4/15/2012
Ghana has moved a place up on the FIFA ranking table as Kwesi Appiah begins his reign as Black Stars coach.
The Black Stars are now placed 22nd on the overall table released yesterday which showed few changes.
Despite the leap, Ghana’s point accumulation has been hit. From 820 points in the previous month, the Black Stars now have 816 points.
The Black Stars, who begin their qualifying for the 2014 World Cup in June are still Africa’s second best side behind Ivory Coast.
Algeria remain third with Mali leapfrogging new African champions, Zambia to fourth on the continental ranking table.
World champions, Spain still lead the overall standing followed by the Germany and Uruguay taking third position.
Twenty-four matches were taken into account for the April edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking, three-quarters of which were played at the AFC Challenge Cup.
