Baba Yara Decides 4/15/2012
Asante Kotoko will cross swords with archrivals Hearts of Oak in their epic Glo Premier League clash at the Baba Yara Stadium today.
The two clubs’ impressive score lines in their last games has heightened the stakes in the already tension-packed clash.
Not even the 10-points difference between leaders Kotoko and Hearts has silenced faithful of the latter.
The Phobians are drawing great inspiration from new manager C.K. Akunnor’s invincibility over Kotoko during his spell with Eleven Wise, and the fact that the Baba Yara Stadium favoured them in times past.
In their 45 engagements when Kotoko hosted their old foes, 18 have gone in Hearts’ favour, while the Porcupine Warriors have recorded 16 wins with 11 ending in stalemates.
In similar fashion, Kotoko are banking their hopes on the fact that Hearts have not been able to beat Maxwell Konadu since he joined the Red Army.
That and other factors have set the stage for the big game.
Elsewhere, Berekum Chelsea, after picking a point in Obuasi against Ashgold, return to their fortress, the Golden City Park to host fourth-placed New Edubiase, while Mighty Jets play as guests of Wa All Stars.
At the Dormaa Park, relegation threatened Arsenals will clash with Aduana Stars with Medeama welcoming Bechem United to the Tarkwah T &A Park.
Ashgold will travel down south to play Tema Youth in a crunch tie at the Tema Park.
Today, coach Sarpong’s Liberty Professionals will stay home to face Heart of Lions in Dansoman, while Wassaman United play as guests of Ebusua Dwarfs.
