One of Ghana’s reigning rap artistes, Kwaw Kese, popularly known as ‘Abodam’, who left the shores of Ghana on Thursday evening for the United Kingdom to begin a tour dubbed ‘The Popping Tour’, was refused entry and detained at the Heathrow Airport.
DAILY GUIDE gathered that Kwaw Kese, who is yet to be deported, was detained for hours at the airport due to some inconsistencies in his travel documents.
The chief executive officer of Madtime Entertainment, Fennec Okyere, who also doubles as Kwaw’s manager, confirmed the story when DAILY GUIDE contacted him.
He told the paper that Kwaw Kese left the country with the necessary documents, adding that he was shocked when he heard that the artiste had been detained at the Heathrow Airport.
Fennec Okyere confirmed that Kwaw Kese, who had travelled extensively to the United States and some parts of Europe, was still at the Heathrow Airport waiting for an available flight back home.
According to peacefmonline.com, a source said even though Kwaw tried all he could to convince the officials and made several calls to his partners in the UK, they insisted that there was no way he would be allowed entry. “I can see Kwaw Kese walking around the airport looking frustrated and disappointed,” the source said.
In an interview with peacefmonline, Fennec Okyere said, “Kwaw told me officials at the airport said there is a problem with his work and stay permit documentation so there is no way he will be allowed to enter UK.”
He explained that even though Kwaw had all the right documents from Ghana, which was why he was allowed to pass through the Kotoka International Airport, it seemed his partners back in the UK didn’t have something right and the home office of the UK immigration said Kwaw had to be flown back home.
Fennec apologized to all Kwaw Kese fans in the UK who were looking forward to the tour, adding, “Obviously, Kwaw is in the UK now but he has been refused entry. We are going to do whatever we can to bring Kwaw Kese back to the UK for the tour as early as possible”.
