Recogin, Vikaash and Sanbana Organisations organise Conference in South East 12/11/2011
If people from different ethnic backgrounds are brought together in a society, they become stronger and resourceful. This was said by Mr. Marcel La Rose, Chairman of Amsterdam South East District Council during the closing session at the conference organized by the Representative Council for Ghanaian Organisations in the Netherlands (RECOGIN) , Stichting HCC Vikaash and Stichting Amsterdam Beraad van Antillianen en Aruba (SANBANA) at Regardz Planetarium on Saturday 10 December 2011. Mr. Larose said by working together with the other organizations Recogin has taken the initiative to address problems in Amsterdam South East which concern all the inhabitants of the district and not Ghanaians alone. By so doing, other countries such as Japan are learning from the experiences of Amsterdam South East.
Earlier in his welcome address, Mr. Charles Vanderpuye, the Chairman of Recogin said the theme of the conference which was “Residents of South East Advancing together” make us become responsible for each other. This will make us stronger to build our community. The conference was opened by Ms. Muriel Dalgliesh, a Portefeullehouder inAmsterdam South East District Council, who spoke about the importance of holding such conference, embracing people from different ethnic backgrounds.
At the conference, different workshops on Education, Youth Groups, Participation, the Image of Amsterdam South East and Labour Market were organized. The moderator of the day was Miss Ama Asantewaah Asante. Ghanaian dishes and drinks were served at the conference; however the attendance of Ghanaians at the conference was not encouraging. Recogin management is entreating Ghanaians to take such meeting very seriously and come in their numbers to bring out their grievance.
