Vodafone Brings Trey Songz To Ghana 8/28/2011

At long last Peacefmonline.com’s quest to find out what was happening to telecommunication giant Vodafone’s flagship event “020 Live” has yielded results.

After a successful first edition where Nigeria platinum duo P-Square rocked Ghanaians with back to back hits as the headline acts, the second edition has been launched.

Launched at Citizen Kofi on Tuesday August 23, organizers promised patrons of the event a better treat this year which is going to be an improvement on last year’s show. Though Vodafone officials refused to officially announce the headline artiste for this year’s show, a reliable source at the company has revealed to Peacefmonline.com that the main act will be American RnB Superstar Trey Songz.

According to the source, all arrangement are complete for the good looking singer to touch down in Ghana for the Vodafone big party.

The “020 Live” Concert is scheduled to take place in the Dome of the Accra International Conference Center on Tuesday, September 20th. According to reports, Trey Songz is currently in South Africa for a two-day concert and is expected to join a line-up of great artistes from Ghana and Nigeria.

Trey Songz will perform on the same stage with carefully selected show stoppers like; reigning “Artistes of the Year” VIP, “Moge baya” boys Five5, Tema based R2Bees, Stay Jay, D-Cryme, Vodafone Icons winners RnM and Nigeria’s biggest solo act D’Banj the “Kokomaster” aka Mr. Endowed.

The “020 Live” Concert which was supposed to come off in May this year delayed because organizers faced some challenges bringing down international artistes they had earlier arranged to perform on the show. It will be recalled that Peacefmonline.com first reported that Vodafone failed to bring Ne-yo and Chris Brown to Ghana.

Apparently, the organizers initially had wanted the “Miss Independence” hitmaker Ne-yo to headline the show, but the Saturday, 7th May 2011 date was considered inappropriate as the Easter celebrations was just around the corner.

A second attempt to bring American R&B singer, Chris Brown also failed due to lack of an appropriate venue, but thankfully Vodafone now has found a good replacement in the person of Trey Songz; and at the right time and great venue.

Tremaine Aldon Neverson born November 28, 1984, better known by his stage name Trey Songz, is an American singer-songwriter, rapper, record producer and actor. His debut album, “I Gotta Make It”, was released in 2005, while his second album, “Trey Day”, was released in 2007.

His third album, “Ready”, was released in 2009 while his fourth studio album, Passion, Pain & Pleasure, was released on September 14, 2010. The seven time BET Awards nominee and two times Grammy Awards nominee won BET Award for “Best Male R&B Artiste” in 2009.

A special package will make it possible for Vodafone customers to have access to discounted standard tickets when they buy GHC 10 airtime or port to the network. Tickets will be available at the following Vodafone Retail shops: Accra Mall, Accra North, High Street, Cantonments, Dansoman and Tema. Tickets will also be available at the Silverbird Cinema, Airport Shell, Joy FM, Koala Shopping Centre and X Men.

Standard tickets are on sale for GHC 50 and GHC 100 for VIP tickets.
