Arms And Ammunition Discovered At Akweteman 5/22/2011
The government has confirmed that the Security Agencies have discovered what they describe as relatively small quantities of stripped and corroded parts of arms and ammunition at a construction site at Akweteman in Accra.

Though the security agencies will not disclose further details on the discovery, they say the arms are suspected to have been buried there in the late 70s.

A Deputy Information Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa who confirmed the information to Citi News said the owner of the land has since been invited to assist in investigations.

“Preliminary forensic investigations show that these weapons which have corroded are likely to have been kept there around the late 1970’s so it is not a recent hiding. “We also want to state investigations will be swift and the outcome made known. At this stage the security agencies are holding the owner of the land who is assisting them in investigations”.
