Ghana’s Black Starlets after their failure to go past the group stage of the FIFA U-17 World Championship yesterday arrived in the country to a warm reception.
Players of the team were calling for a warm reception at the Kotoka international airport ahead of their arrival in Ghana yesterday.
The Starlets who were runners-up in the African championships were unceremoniously bundled out of the world tournament in Peru at the group stages.
Ghana failed to win a single match at the championships after notching three successive one-all draws.
In the grand final, a sublime and effective display of football saw Mexico claim the FIFA U-17 World Championship Peru 2005 with an emphatic 3-0 win over reigning champions Brazil.
Timely strikes from Carlos Vela, Omar Esparza and Ever Guzmán helped the Mexicans dominate proceedings and lift a FIFA World Championship crown for the first time in their history.
For Brazil, the result represented a first final defeat since a 3-2 loss against the Black Starlets of Ghana at the Ecuador ‘95 tournament.
