Nakorex to unite at Miss Ghana 7/20/2008

Sparrow Productions Limited, organisers of the Miss Ghana Beauty pageant, have landed a deal with the three former members of the once exciting but now defunct musical group, NAKOREX, to bring them together again.

The Mirror says at press time last Thursday, information from the management of Sparrow indicated that Nat Brew, popularly known as Amandzeba, Akosua Agyepong and Rex Omar had agreed in principle to play at this year’s Miss Ghana show under the famous name, NAKOREX, and the only thing left was the finalisation of the paper work.

Rex Omar told the Mirror in a phone chat that he was excited about the idea and added that performing together will bring fond memories that the three members shared during their NAKOREX days. “I was not married at the time NAKOREX was hot on the entertainment scene, now we are all very experienced in life and playing together will be much more fun,” he said. He expressed the hope that there will be good reason for them to come together and play as a group any time they received invitations, even though they were currently pursuing individual musical careers.

Mr Ekow Quarcoo, Amandzeba’s manager described the Miss Ghana platform as appropriate for the regrouping of the former members of NAKOREX, as it promotes the beauty of Ghanaian arts, entertainment and culture. Besides, NAKOREX, the organisers have promised a surprise entertainment package for patrons to have their money’s worth. The organiser of the pageant, Miss Shirley Frimpong-Manso, also expressed the hope that Ghanaians would appreciate efforts Sparrow was making to give the people good entertainment, while promoting the cause of women.

She says this year’s event, which comes off at the National Theatre in Accra, on Friday, August 1, is dedicated to disadvantaged women in Ghana. All 22 contestants, she said would engage in programmes that champion the cause of women.
