Kevin Lyttle and Wayne Wonder Caused Mayhem In Ghana 10/2/2005
I want to get you in the mood for this review. A little music, some candles, that''s it, how about a glass of wine? O.K. take a hit of this, yeah it''s good. Hope you''re relaxing and feeling ro... romantic. Kevin Lyttle is a very romantic gentleman.

He talks about sex, he boasts about his prowess in the sensual arts, but he always keeps it respectful. In this record, women aren''t bitches and whores. They may cause him some consternation but he is never disrespectful. His mother raised him right.

The Soca-King himself, Caribbean-born Kevin Lyttle, whose song ‘Turn Me On’ has been ripping off stages worldwide, turned Ghana upside down on the 30 September, 2005 with sensation Wayne Wonder at the Accra International Conference Centre for the ‘Areeba Music Fiesta’.

The sensual, honeyed vocals of Wayne Wonder have made him a consistent hit maker since the late 80''s. In 2002, Wayne earned the first number1 hit of his career pledging a lifetime of devotion on the sweetly romantic hit ‘No Letting Go’.

The event which was sponsored by Ghana’s renowned telecommunications’ network Areeba was something else as Charter House (Event organisers) paraded the crème de la crème. At about 9:15 pm, the show was set to kick off with Bola Ray (Joy FM) and KOD (Radio Gold) as the Masters of the Ceremony. They welcomed the audience with an introduction of Wutah as the first to perform.

The duo’s enormous rich voice and powerful stage presence brought immense drama and feeling to their live performance. With songs like ‘Goosy Gander’ (currently burning the local charts) and the likes, the audience could not help it but get off their seats and move to the dance floor.

Their performance warmed up the stage for Ghana’s sexiest lady Mzbel who together with Castro da destroyer punished the sweaty ecstatic crowd with their microphone tactics. You should have been there to see how ‘16 years’ and ‘Yopoo’ made the audience go ‘bananas’.

Who said a show can be organised without Batman performing? He always has to be there to move us into the music world. His versatility has proved that he is undoubtedly the ‘sexy don dada’ as people call him. When he stepped onto the stage, the audience scream and swoon just to take a glimpse of him and hold him.

If you were not there, then you missed something big because he performed his single yet to come out titled ‘Odo’ and wow, the audience went berserk. As if that was enough, he captivated the audience with ‘Di Wo Line Mu’ and his sexy track ‘Linda’ which saw many people jumping onto the stage.

The lights then go off. What? Don’t think it is...? No. Oh, there he comes, the ladies lover ‘Waaaayne Wonderrrr. I''ve seen artistes perform on many occasions but I have never seen or heard anything like this. The singing and acting skills on display were remarkable and on top of that, the confidence and stage presence shown by Wayne and his dancers were amazing.

About the dancers, they were too hot. You should have seen how they moved their God given assets. If you missed, meet them at the La Beach on Sunday. For me, the finale was the icing on the cake. To see over 2000 people singing ‘Anything Goes’, ‘Saddest Day’, ‘No Letting Go’ and ‘Bounce Along’ whilst performing some nifty dance steps was thrilling. Extraordinary is the word that best describes this performance. Wayne, this is from me to you: Let’s see more of that on Sunday.

Ofori Amponsah, Kofi Nti and Barosky came next to give off their best by thrilling the audience with tracks like ‘Otoolege’, ‘Rakia’, ‘Cinderella’, ‘Odo Nnwom’ and the likes. No wonder they grace the front-pages of newspapers, magazines and websites.

It’s about 12:00 am and Kevin Lyttle has not come on stage. Is he coming? Is he going to perform? These were some of the questions that some fans were asking. The coming on stage of Kevin’s band proved that they were preparing to heat up the crowd. His band did exactly that by creating a dancing atmosphere in the auditorium with some uplifting tunes. Suddenly, Kevin arrives on stage. His known record of energetic personality, virtuosic technical competence together with his dynamic and temperamental performance was celebrated by the audience with an enthusiastic applause.

He dazzled us with his stormy dance and charming smile, so it is no surprise that Ghana awaits him back. He is one of the most versatile and entertaining belly dancers I''ve seen. He can make an audience flip out. Watching him perform for some months, I can honestly tell you that even the most sedate audiences were whooping and clapping like crazy.

And he''s got that hot-boy-next-door vibe thing going and he''s sexy too. For your information, he got ‘married’ to many ladies yesterday.

Many events have come and gone but, if I have to pick just three, then it would be Shaggy’s Concert, the Boyz II Men Concert and this one. In fact, I got double pleasure out of the evening. I wore two hats at the concert – a fan and a reporter.

‘Ayekoo’ to Areeba (sponsor) and Charter House (event organisers) for a job well done. They really gave us value for our money.

Watch out for pictures from the show!!!
