Quick Action MTN playmaker…ready to run his own talent hunt TV show 9/27/2007
Quick Action is the brain behind the new MTN publicity (sound track) song performed by Samini recorded in four versions Jazz, radio version, TV and the main song.

Sure everybody can complete this line it’s your chance and you have to stand tall, believe in yourself … Presently most popular song on radio, TV and even on our mobile phones were recorded at his S24 studio, Spintex road.

Larteh Akuapim born Joseph Appiah now popularly known in showbiz as Quick Action seem to be at the peak of his career at the moment having been involved in quite a number of successful musical projects which have won several awards in and outside Ghana.

The young music producer (sound engineer) is behind almost every big thing. Over such a short period this new kid on the block has been able to prove beyond reasonable doubts to be the midas touch.

He has produced a song from the Rice Master to support the Black Stars in the up coming African Cup of Nations to be hosted in Ghana next year, a Ghana@50 song with Samini, Mac Tonto of Osibisa fame and Afro Moses.

Also for your information he did the beat for Samini’s “Odo” that won him best Africa Arts at the MOBO (Music of Black Origin) awards in the UK last year, he has worked with artistes like Tic Tac, Okomfour Kwadee, Bright of Buk Bak fame, 4×4, Pope Skinny and few gospel gigs with Mary Ghansah,Cindy Thompson and Jane and Bernice.

In a dynamic industry like ours where things keep changing, new cuts keep surfacing, new talents will always be discovered as far as show business remains part of our way of life. Historically production (sound engineering) in Ghana has become static.

Apart from a few creative ones who are hardly heard of, the known and accepted ones turn to loose focus after reigning for a couple of months or years and begin to repeat the same thing over and over for different artistes.

It is quite clear that the new producers will always be creative and spend more time to bring out the best but how different will they be if they also become popular?

For sometime now the name Quick Action has come up to add to the list of professional beat makers Ghana can boast of.

He started playing the keyboard at the age of seven, got into studio recording in 1998 and the first producer he met was JQ. He started serious business at PnT Recording Studio until he had his own studio, S24 Studio on the Spintex road.

When Quick Action was asked how he feels about the fact that he has never won any award for himself so far but rather it’s the artistes who turn to always win the awards and take all the recognition, he said “If the goat doesn’t go its skin goes” it is not bad for artistes to win awards with a beat I did. I think it’s rather a great achievement for my works to win awards both in Ghana or outside.

“If a product from my studio wins an award then it means I have also done something that has been recognized. I will always be proud to be part of the wining team. It’s even better to be behind the scenes and be doing great stuff for people to wonder who you are than pushing yourself forward”, he stated blatantly.

For what Quick Action have up his sleeves in future he said he has an upcoming TV show which will discover new musical talents, train them and make them stars.

He told Weekly Fylla exclusively that he has secured a recording deal in Australia which winners from the up coming TV show will be flown to Australia to record and have fun as part of their prize package.

Furthermore, albums of the respective winners will be promoted and sold both in Ghana and Australia. He also disclosed his intentions of setting up a music academy to pick young and talented wannabe musicians from the grassroots and take them through piano, Sags, keyboard, flutes and other musical lessons to produce real musicians not just artistes.
