GIS To Improve Aflao Border Facilities 7/19/2007
The Minister for the Interior, Honourable Kan Dapaah, today, Tuesday, July 17, 2007 in Parliament said plans have been made for the completion of the Aflao Border facilities and that new grants and technologies will increase efficiency at the border. Minister Dapaah said the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning would ensure the complex is completed on time. He said that under the Border Patrol Programme, Ghana Immigration Services has budgeted for the construction.


When asked for a time frame, the Minister for the Interior said specific dates and figures were not yet available. In regard to efficient service delivery, the Minister said processing passengers at the border will be easier with a recently installed software.


Also, Ghana Immigration Services will be able to purchase a Digital Border Surveillance System with a Two Million Euro Spanish grant. This, the Minister said, will enhance security at the border.
