Netherlands celebrates Veterans'' Day 6/30/2007

THE HAGUE – The Hague is at the centre of the festivities to mark Veterans'' Day today. The official programme will open with a ceremony at the Ridderzaal at the government buildings at 10.30 this morning. Events are being hosted at the Malieveld all day.

Prince Willem-Alexander will be attending the festivities. More than 200 soldiers from the different branches of the armed forces will be awarded medals during a ceremony at the Malieveld at 11.30.

The high point will be the procession at 1.15 pm, when 5,000 veterans will march past the Crown Prince, accompanied by active veterans, marching bands and military vehicles. 33 aeroplanes will also fly over the Hofvijver.
