Zoro pens Benfica deal 5/30/2007
Ivory Coast international defender Marc Zoro has signed for Portuguese giants Benfica from relegated Serie A outfit Messina.

The 23-year-old has enjoyed a torrid time in Serie A where he was twice subjected to racist abuse by Inter Milan fans.

He once threatened to walk off the pitch and on the second occasion demand the referee abandon the match.

"I am going to play for Bnefica next season," said Zoro, after undergoing a medical.

"The major target will be the Champions League," he added.

Zoro was a member of the Ivory Coast team that lost to Egypt in last year''s African Nations Cup and reached the World Cup finals for the first time in their history.

Benfica finished third in the title race last term, behind champions FC Porto and Sporting Lisbon.
