Power fluctuations damage office appliances 4/10/2007
Bawku (U/E), April 9, GNA - Office equipment in the Old Assembly Block that houses various offices valued at over 20 million cedis were destroyed on Thursday as a result of power fluctuations. The offices include the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Judiciary Service and Non-Formal Education Division.

Equipment destroyed include five computers and accessories, printers, stabilizers, UPS systems, air conditioners, ceiling fans and tape recorders.

Four departments on the same block, whose officers were not in the office early, were spared.

On day of the incident, power was switched off at about 0820 hours for two minutes and turned on and off again after just a minute. Power stayed off for about 10 minutes before it came on again for two minutes. It went off for about five minutes and on and off. The Volta River Authority (VRA) said the problem was from the main lines serving Bawku.Source:
