Bishop to bless Twin Towers depiction 4/4/2007
3 April 2007

AMSTERDAM - Bishop Hurkmans of Den Bosch will dedicate a new window in the Cathedral of Sint-Jan (Saint John) this Easter Sunday. The stained-glass window includes an illustration of the attack on the World Trade Center, the diocese announced on Tuesday.

The window is a depiction of the Last Judgement. Tilburg artist Marc Mulders decided to portray the moment when the first aeroplane hit the first of the Twin Towers in New York.

The window above the main entrance on the west side of the Sint-Jan uses the classic triptych design showing heaven, hell and purgatory. This is the first time since 1985 that the cathedral in Den Bosch is consecrating a prominent new stained-glass window.
