Hawa is irreplaceable – Boadu 3/22/2007
The National Youth Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Mr. John Boadu, has said the party has lost a gem that is difficult to replace.

Speaking to Joy News from London, Mr. Boadu said NPP officials were shocked and could not hold back their tears when news of Madam Hawa Yakubu’s death was confirmed.

He said it was a solemn moment for some party members when they visited the London home of Madam Yakubu.

“As responsible officials we could not have acted on hearsay from Ghana and all over trying to confirm. So we regrouped right about 12.30 pm and visited the house where we had conversation with family members. We met some of her children and they confirmed that Hawa Yakubu passed away during the morning. It was a grave spectacle. The national chairman, the national women organiser and the third vice chairman could not even sit down or stand. Most of them were in tears. We have lost a great mentor especially to women and the youth,” he said.

Mr. Boadu said the family could not say outright what might have caused Madam Hawa’s death because postmortem is yet to be performed.

“What was most important to us was not about what caused her death but the lost the party and the entire nation and the world at last have lost…for us as a party we have lost an individual that is very difficult to replace,” he said.

The ruling NPP undoubtedly is one of the groups that will be hardest hit by news of the death of Madam Hawa Yakubu. For some she wielded great influence in the party not only because she was first vice chairperson, but also because of her charisma and outspoken nature.
