| PVV continues to grow in popularity |

AMSTERDAM – A recent survey from Maurice de Hond indicates that the Freedom Party (PVV) would be able to count on 17 seats in parliament if general elections were held now.
De Hond also asked respondents about their confidence in the faction leaders. That survey indicated that PVV leader Geert Wilders enjoys the least confidence, while Socialist Party (SP) leader Jan Marijnissen enjoys the most.
With its 17 seats the PVV would almost overtake the Liberal Party (VVD), which De Hond says could count on only 21 seats if elections were held now. The party would have secured 25 seats if elections were held last week, the previous survey shows. The VVD actually holds 22 seats in the house.
The outcome of the De Hond survey was announced on Sunday. It shows that the coalition of Christian Democrats (CDA), Labour (PvdA), and ChristenUnie would get 69 seats in Parliament if a vote were held today. The coalition parties managed to secure a total of 80 seats in the general election.
