Hapoel Tel Aviv moved top of the Premier League standings yesterday, but needed a controversial injury-time goal against Ashdod to knock Beitar off the No.1 spot at least until tonight when it faces Maccabi Haifa. In the 92 minutes Ashdod ''''keeper Sammy Adjei let a freekick slip through his hands and the ball whistled across the goal line, which cost his team Ashdod a point.
Maccabi Tel Aviv kept up the pressure at the top as it came back for a 2-1 win at Netanya. Abdul Okocha put Netanya ahead on 42 minutes after latching on to a deep cross from Ophir Haim.

Two goals from captain Francesco Totti inspired Roma to a 3-1 victory over Udinese which keeps them 16 points behind Inter. Totti opened the scoring from the penalty spot just after the half-hour mark and added another on the hour after Simone Perrotta had made it 2-0. Teenage Ghana striker Gyan Asamoah pulled one back in the 69th minute but it was not enough to get the visitors back in the game.
