Worst potato crop in 10 years 3/1/2007
AMSTERDAM –Figures published today by Statistics Netherlands (CBS) indicate that the total harvest of potatoes for consumption hit the lowest level in ten years in 2006. Farmers harvested 17 percent fewer potatoes from their fields than the average over the past decade.

The weather was responsible for the poor crop: a hot (and sometimes wet) summer followed by a warm autumn. The gross crop yield for 2006 was 9 percent
