| Suspects say girl "invented" rape story |

AMSTERDAM – The public prosecution department (OM) asked the court in Maastricht on Wednesday to sentence the mother (39) and grandfather (61) of an 8-year-old girl from Sittard to five years in prison.
The two are accused of having sexually abused the child for more than a year when she was younger. A damages claim of more than 18,000 euro was also filed against them
The OM is asking that the 19-year-old brother of the victim be sentenced to 200 hours of community service and a six-month suspended sentence. He too is accused of molesting the girl.
The abuse allegedly started when the girl was four years old. The OM says she was regularly raped and forced to engage in sexual acts with the family members. Her brother was a minor at the time.
The suspects deny all the charges. They say the girl has invented all the accounts of incest and that she caused her internal injuries herself.
