AS Douanes out of Champs League 2/26/2007
The Confederation of African Football has confirmed that Senegal''s AS Douanes have been expelled from this year''s African Champions League.
Caf say that Douanes used an irregularly registered player and it has now reinstated Mali''s Stade Malien, who were beaten 4-1 on aggregate by the Senegalese side in the first round.

Stade will now play Morocco''s Wydad Casablanca in a second round, first leg tie this weekend.

The problem arose when AS Douanes were found to have used a player still registered with a Malian club.

Mamadou Alou Diallo''s transfer from Club Olympique Bamako to AS Douanes had not been properly completed with the necessary international transfer certificate, rendering his registration for the Champions League as fraudulent.

The Senegalese club, however, intend to appeal the decision.

"This is a problem between the Senegalese and Malian federations, the player has been with us since last year," said Ameth Tine, secretary-general of the Dakar-based club.
