I Felt There Was Something Wrong - Suzzy''s Mum 9/23/2005
Suzzy Williams, the 23-year-old dashing talented actress who took the Ghanaian film scene by storm a couple of years ago, died last Thursday in a car crash in Accra.

Her mother,Mrs Cecilia Williams, who was very close to her had a premonition that she would be in some kind of trouble when Suzzy left home hurriedly on Wednesday afternoon last week.

According to her,Suzzy came back from town about 3.20pm and asked for her birth certificate because she needed it to complete her visa forms for a trip.

Suzzy’s mum said as they searched through their stuff for the certificate, her hand struck a bottle of perfume they both use and it dropped onto the floor and broke.

Suddenly it dawned on her that it was unusual for such a thick bottle to be smashed and she felt it was an ominous sign so she went looking for Suzzy to ask her not to go out with the car that day,but she had already left the house with Edwin, his boyfriend who was waiting in the car downstairs.

Mrs Williams said, following that incident, she had a funny feeling the whole day that something untoward was going to happen to her daughter.

She tried concentrating to will her daughter home as she did sometimes but her attempts proved futile. To take off the pressure on her,due to that funny feeling she was having, she said she walked about on their compound late into the evening with the hope that she would be able to shake off the feeling while hoping and praying that Suzzy will come back home.

“I had the same feeling when Suzzy had her first accident with this same car a couple of months ago.I suddenly felt something was not right and called everywhere I knew she would be,including her friends to ask where she was.

When later Suzzy came home she had a swollen face and said she had had an accident” Mrs Cecilia Williams said that her worst fears were confirmed when they received a call in the early hours of last Thursday that Suzzy was in a coma at the Lister Clinic where Suzzy died later in their presence.

Mrs Williams said from an early age her daughter had been full of life and had even won a beauty contest organised at Darkuman,a suburb of Accra where they live.

At Tema Secondary School, she was in the drama group and performed in plays and also sang at entertainment programmes in the school.

It was not surprising therefore when Suzzy began acting in a big way.Since speaking with Suzzy’s mum, Showbiz has learnt that,Suzzy was indeed on the eve of making it big in Europe.

According to Mensah Williams an artistes agent who lives and works in Germany, the day Suzzy went looking for her birth certificate, she was doing so to enable her complete her
