Armed robbery at Amsterdam bank 2/23/2007
AMSTERDAM – There have been reports of an armed robbery at the Postbank on the Buikslotermeerplein in Amsterdam-Noord this morning.

The still unidentified perpetrators of the attack apparently held an employee of the bank hostage in her apartment from Thursday evening until early Friday morning. They managed to get the keys to the bank from her in the course of the night.

Just before 8.00 a.m. this morning the robbers, armed with a firearm, went to the bank and forced two employees and a cleaner already at the bank into a safe. The workers were bound and gagged and locked up.

The robbers managed to escape with a yet unknown amount of booty and fled in a car owned by one of the employees. The police are currently searching for them by helicopter.
