"Burqa should be allowed" 2/23/2007
AMSTERDAM – New Minister for Living, Neighbourhoods and Integration Ella Vogelaar said on the television programme NOVA on Thursday that women should be allowed to wear a burqa in public if they so desire.

It should not be allowed however if it causes problems at work in public functions or jobs that involve dealing with the public.

The new cabinet had announced earlier that it plans to ban the wearing of face-concealing garments if necessary to maintain public order.
