Police seek witnesses to Imaç murder 2/21/2007
20 February 2007

AMSTERDAM - The Amsterdam police announced on Monday that they are looking for three Turkish women who witnessed the murder of Nedim Imaç in Amsterdam-Osdorp on Saturday night.

The three women reportedly saw as the former president of amateur football club Turkiyemspor was shot several times in front of a Turkish restaurant, after which police say they ran away and fled in a dark-coloured car.

The police also want to get in touch with anyone who knows more about the delivery van that was used in the attack. The perpetrators shot at Imaç from a white Mercedes Vito which was later abandoned in the Griendstraat. It had been stolen in 2003.

There will not be a commemoration ceremony or silent march since the police assume the killing was an act of revenge within criminal circles.
