Dutchman arrested in Nepal 2/16/2007
AMSTERDAM – The police in Kathmandu, Nepal reported today that they have arrested a Dutchman on charges of child molestation. 59-year-old Henk M. was picked up last week but his arrest was not announced until now.

The suspect has been running the Hamro Jivan orphanage in Nepal since 2003, a home for children between the ages of eight and fourteen.

The police say they caught the Dutchman in the act. M. could be given 15 years for the offence in Nepal. He will most likely be brought before the court in March.

An employee of the orphanage has also confirmed M.’s arrest but stressed that the home will remain open for the time being.
