Let''s join hands and defeat NPP in 2008 - MP 2/13/2007
Wapuli (NR), Feb. 12, GNA- Alhaji Mohammed Issifu Pangabu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ejira Sekyi-Dumase has called on Ghanaians particularly floating voters to join hands with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to defeat the New Patriotic party (NPP) in the 2008 elections to offer Ghanaians fair and just governance.

He said the NPP was using unfair means to treat Ghanaians, particularly those who were not sympathizing with it and that it was necessary for Ghanaians to get them out of power through the ballot box for them to learn political lessons.

Alhaji Pangabu made call at Wapuli, a farming community near Saboba in the Saboba/Cheriponi District when he commissioned an NDC party office he built for the people to help strengthen the structures of the party there to win back the Parliamentary seat.

He accused the government for jailing its political opponents and was not patriotic enough to take its party members who are accused of misappropriation of state funds to court but only remove them from office and that the NPP was now amassing wealth in anticipation of losing power in 2008.

He said apart from the NPP embarking on political trials involving only members of the NDC, the government was not also sensitive to the plight of Ghanaian farmers since the economy made it impossible for farmers to get profit from their produce.

Alhaji Pangabu appealed to members of the other parties including the NPP who were not satisfied with NPP governance to have faith with the NDC and join hands to defeat the NPP since no Ghanaian was tied to a political party.

Mr. Adolf Ali, Saboba constituency chairman of the NDC said pretenders and betrayers within the party would be exposed saying, "When the going is good, you are seen, when it is tough you are hidden. How do you want the party to grow if you are pretending because of your stomachs."

He called on former District Chief Executives (DCEs), Presiding Members, Ministers of state and deputies during NDC government to use their influence and galvanize support for the party to return to power to end the suffering Ghanaians were going through. Alhaji Abudulai Haruna Friday, Northern Regional Secretary of the party said this is time to know the true and committed members of the party and that they would be recognised as such if the party returns to power in 2009.

He reiterated his call on members who were interested in the position of MPs not to do things that would jeopardise the chances of the party in those constituencies but they should remain patient until nominations were opened before they campaign.

He expressed the hope that the NDC would recapture all Parliamentary seats lost to the NPP in the region during the 2004 elections and called on all members of the party, particularly party agents to remain extra vigilant during voting day to avoid rigging. 12 Feb. 07Source:
