| Dutch pleased with coalition |

AMSTERDAM – Two-thirds of the Dutch are pleased with the new coalition of Christian democrat CDA, Labour PvdA and ChristenUnie, even though only four percent of the population thought a coalition of these parties would work when asked three weeks before the elections.
One quarter of the Dutch is negative about the coalition. This emerged from a TNS NIPO survey on Wednesday commissioned by RTL Nieuws.
Three-quarters of the Dutch had already heard, seen or read something of the coalition accord presented on Wednesday.
The majority of them (77 percent) are positive about the outcome. They are primarily pleased that the parties have not made any changes to mortgage interest relief, have decided to invest more in education and will grant general amnesty. Even though this last point was also met with disapproval from many.
More than 60 percent of the Dutch believe this government will be in office for the full four years of its term.
