Blatter set for AU summit 1/29/2007
Fifa president Sepp Blatter will attend the African Union (AU) summit in Ethiopia on Monday to launch a project to help improve African football.

Blatter, accompanied by Caf president Issa Hayatou, will address the African heads of state attending the summit.

Blatter will reveal details of the ''''Win in Africa with Africa'''' project, an initiative designed to help the entire continent to benefit from South Africa''''s hosting of the 2010 World Cup.

"It is an immense honour for me to be able to address all of the African heads of state," Blatter said.

"It will be an excellent opportunity to remind the entire African continent that holding the World Cup on African soil will be an exceptional way to pay homage to football across Africa and to show the world the true depth of its potential."

Caf will use the opportunity to launch the ''''International Year of African Football'''' programme to mark the organisation''''s 50th anniversary.

South African President Thabo Mbeki and Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi are expected to attend the launch, alongside Africa''''s leading former footballers, Roger Milla of Cameroon, Abedi Pele of Ghana and Hossam Hassan
