Parliament reconvenes next Tuesday 1/29/2007
Accra, Jan. 26, GNA - A number of bills has been scheduled for consideration when Parliament reconvenes on Tuesday, January 30. The Anti Terrorism; National Commission on Small Arms and Polytechnic Bills, which are all before various Parliamentary Committees, would be taken through various stages and passed. Transfer of Convicted Persons and Restriction on the Use of Military Uniforms and Equipment (Amendment) Bills are also before Parliamentary Committees.

The Domestic Violence; Food and Drugs (Amendment) and the Central Securities Depository Bills, at the consideration stages are also high on the agenda of the first meeting for the year. Various instruments including Fisheries Regulation 2007; Drilling Licence and Groundwater Development Regulations 2006 (L.I. 1827) would also receive Members'' attention.

Papers to be laid before the House include the Extradition Treaty between Ghana and the United States and the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods, 1980.

The Auditor-General''s Report on the Public Account of Ministries, Department and Agencies for 2005 and the Annual Report of the Judicial Service for the year 2005 and 2006 would be laid before the House for scrutiny.

The member-elect for the Fomena constituency would also take his seat in the House after taking the Oath of a Member of Parliament.Source:
