Two in frame for Malawi job 1/19/2007
Brazilian coach Carlos Alberto da Luz is on a two-man shortlist to take charge of Malawi''''''''s national team.

The former Panama boss is in line for the Flames along with Stephen Constantine, a former coach of English Championship side Millwall.

They were selected from over nine coaches that applied for the job.

The duo will be interviewed in Blantyre on 2 February.

The Football Association of Malawi (Fam) has been looking for a replacement since German Burkhard Ziese was sacked in August for gross indiscipline.

"We had a wider choice of coaches to select from but the CVs of these two trainers were the most impressive," Fam president Walter Nyamirandu Manda told BBC Sport.

"There was serious scrutiny of the applicants as we did not want to encounter the same problems we had with Ziese."

Da Luz was technical advisor of the Brazilian national team when they won the World Cup in 1994, a post he retained four years later at the tournament in France.

Meanwhile, Constantine led India to win their first major trophy outside the subcontinent when they clinched the LG Cup in Vietnam in 2002.

He also had a two-year spell as head coach of Nepal''''''''s national team.

The successful candidate is expected to start work in March.
