Minister Deplores Indecent Dressing 1/16/2007
The people of Gomoa Afransi on Saturday celebrated their annual Akwambo festival to thank their ancestors for a new year and to seek their blessings for further development. Addressing the durbar, the Minister of Chieftaincy and Culture, Sampson Kwaku Boafu called on traditional authorities to unite against the high level of indecent dressing in the country.

He said the manner of dressing among the youth does not conform to the nation’s culture and must therefore not be tolerated. “Ghanaians must not copy blindly from the Western culture but uphold the various cultures of the country which emphasize honesty, integrity and decency, he urged.

A durbar marking the occasion was also used to install a new chief for the area under the stool name Ogyedom Obranu Kwasi Atta VI. Mr. Boafo said it is time Ghanaians united to maintain and promote the nation’s culture and attributed the situation of many young ladies not getting married to their indecent lifestyles.
