Hamburg send Atouba home 1/12/2007
Hamburg''s Cameroonian defender Thimothee Atouba has been sent home from the club''s training camp in Dubai for disruptive behaviour.

The 24-year-old, who is recovering from a pelvic injury, only joined the German side for the training camp at the insistence of coach Thomas Doll.

But Atouba''s persistent complaining has now led to him being sent back to Germany.

"We''re losing patience with him. We''ve taken these measures so that the team can focus on their work," said Hamburg sporting director Dietmar Beiersdorfer.

"We don''t need interruptions as has been the case in the last few days,"

Atouba had complained about attending the training camp instead of receiving treatment in Hamburg.

"I''m wasting my time here," he told sports magazine Kicker.

The Cameroonian has already been at the centre of controversy this season after making a gesture towards the club''s own fans following his substitution in the Champions League win over CSKA Moscow last month.

Third in last season''s Bundesliga, Hamburg have struggled this season and are lying one off the foot of the table.

Atouba, a US$3million signing from English side Tottenham Hotspur, is under contract with Hamburg until 2009.
