Helicopter Crash at Adukrom Akuapem 1/12/2007
According to an Accra-based radio station - Joy FM - a helicopter which might have been carrying the mortal remains of Air Marshall Otu has crashed at Adukrom in the Akwapem hills of the Eastern Region
Unconfirmed reports say the military helicopter first hit a telecommunications antennae at about 1345 hours and ripped off the roofing of a nearby house, dragging it for about 400 metres before catching fire.

Eyewitnesses who say poor visibility might have caused the accident, however said seventeen people on board the helicopter escaped the ensuing blaze that consumed the helicopter and the coffin.

The late Otu’s remains were due for a final funeral rite at the Bethel Presbyterian Church at Adukrom on Saturday after the military command held a funeral service at the Methodist Presbyterian Church, Burma Camp on Friday.

The military and police are reported to be cordoning off the scene of the blaze.
