Ghana@50 Essay Competition Launched 1/12/2007
Ghanadot.com, a United States-based Ghanaian internet website Company, has launched a Ghana@50 Essay Contest dubbed “The Way Forward,” aimed at unearthing development approaches and efforts of Ghanaians, particularly students at the tertiary level.

A statement signed by Mr E. Ablorh-Odjijah, Chief Executive of Ghanadot.com, issued in Accra, said the competition, which was opened to public university students was the company’s contribution to the celebration of the country’s 50th anniversary.

The statement said “The words should not be more than 1,500 words and the winner will receive a full, years’ tuition fees,” adding that prizes would be awarded each month for the winning essay of the month.

Mr Ablorh-Odjijah said as a Ghanaian company, “we believe that it was the little we could do to associate ourselves with the development of education.” He said as purveyor of news in a developing nation, “We believe that highlighting the positive, rather than the sensational helps”.

Mr Ablorh-Odjijah said Ghanadot.com emerged in March 2004 as ThisWeekGhana and will not change, but continue as a source for breaking news in Ghana.
