Security Measures For 50th Anniversary - IGP 1/11/2007

The Inspector General of Police, Mr. P.K Acheampong has called on Regional Commanders and other unit commanders to put measures in place to ensure a peaceful 50th Anniversary Celebration.

The IGP charged his commanders to liaise with the local organizing committees in their respective jurisdictions to ensure that the police contribute its quota towards a successful celebration.

He said this, when he met the Police National Planning Committee for the 50th Independence Anniversary at the National Police Headquarters on Friday. He also asked them to ensure that crime is further reduced to the barest minimum in the days leading to, during and after the big event.

Mr. Acheampong specially mentioned that robbery, which is still lingering, albeit in smaller degree, should be targeted and stamped out.

Finally, he assured the people of Ghana of a peaceful celebration.
