Ex-Black Stars’ Skipper Dies 1/6/2007

Addo Odametey, captain of the Black Stars’ squad that won the 1965 African Cup of Nations in Tunisia, has died at the age of 69 after a short illness.

According to a family source, Addo Odametey, who won many caps for Ghana when he captained the Black Stars from 1964 to 1970, passed away on December 29.

Addo Odametey is survived by a wife and six children.

He was also a captain of Accra Hearts of Oak and later became coach of the club.

Funeral arrangments will be announced later.
