Woman jailed for poisoning mother 1/5/2007
4 January 2007

AMSTERDAM — Groningen Court sentenced on Thursday a 51-year-old woman to 12 years jail and TBS psychiatric detention for the poisoning murder of her mother.

The woman, Gerritdina K., of Stadskanaal, was also convicted for the attempted poisoning murder of her husband.

The case came to light last July after the husband was admitted to hospital with a suspicious illness, including internal bleeding. He was found to have had an overdose of medicine. He survived.

The woman was then arrested and confessed that she had regularly given her husband doses of blood thinning medicines.

The woman then admitted to killing 85-year-old mother in March 2005 the same way.

K. said she had always been belittled by her mother. She also said she tried to murder her husband after they had an argument over the inheritance from her mother.
