Reading Gives Up On Mensah? 1/4/2007
Reading boss wants players ready to cope with rigours of Premiership

Steve Coppell says he would like to bring in two players during the January transfer window – but he will not be going abroad to bolster Reading’s squad.

He has been monitoring Rennes’ John Mensah for next season but insists right now he is only looking to bring in players who have experience of the English game.

Royals’ manager added: “How well we have done won’t affect the players we want to sign, but it probably would influence foreign players. They could be more receptive, but I can tell you we are not targeting any foreign players.

“I don’t expect any foreign players to arrive here this month.
