Police Give Armed Robbers A Choice 10/27/2006
The East Akim Divisional Police Commander ASP Huseini Musah Awimabe has warned armed robbers who are trying to operate in the area to either leave or surrender to the Police.

He said the police have all the information about them and are on high alert to thwart their operations. ASP Musah gave the warning in an interview with the Times about the state of security in the area at the weekend.

He said there have not been any robbery cases in the district recently and generally the area is quite calm and residents are also very cooperative.

But ASP Musah said that there are rumors that some armed robbers were planning to attack some towns and village in the area.

He said the robbers are trying to take advantage of the diversion of the road to lunch their negative operations in the area.

He said the Security in the area are aware of their techniques and are ready to deal with them.

Answering questions on the lack of vehicles for their operations, the commander commended the district assembly for assisting the police with vehicles for patrols.

He also thanked the Community Watch Dog Committee and some individuals car owners for releasing their vehicles to the police for operations.

He said since policemen are peace makers they have developed cordial relationship with the communities in the district so that they could always visit the officers at will at the station to discuss issues that would help protect the people.

He announced that the Kibi Police station would soon receive new vehicles from the headquarters of the police.

He said the police leadership in the district have made an appeal to the IGP to that effect.
