Akon, Tic Tac Flaunt Ghana 9/8/2006
A master class of Ghana’s finest video directors and some of the world’s top Music video practitioners have started a historic work on two separate video for Akon and Tic Tac.

This fantastic first of it’s kind project is a joint initiative by the Ghana Tourism and Diasporan Relations Ministry, music TV channel MTV base, NYU’s Ghana campus and the team of directors and cinematographers working on international superstar Akon’s new video ‘Mama Africa’ and one of Ghana’s top musicians, Tic Tac’s ‘Kangaroo’ video which is being filmed in and around Accra.

Akon’s own video crew includes director Gil Green (director of videos for Brandy, Lil’ Jon, Akon), Producer Martell Rose and Director of Photography Martin Lince and Editor Pierre Verna.

According to Alex Okosi, Vice President and General Manager, MTV Networks Africa, MTV base is delighted to be involved in this unique project which will give Ghanaian video directors creative inspiration, an inside track on state-of-the-art video production techniques and hands-on experience of working on a video shoot of this caliber.

“I am sure that both parties will learn more about the video making process from each other and that Ghana’s vibrant music industry will benefit from this unique interface with the crème de la crème of the contemporary music video industry”, he noted.

A press conference was staged in Accra on Tuesday by MTV base, an event which was attended by Tourism Minister Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, stake holders in the entertainment industry and the media. The event was live on Metro TV who is partners with MTV base.
