Past and present professional football stars will storm the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra to play in a special fund-raising cup match on December 24.

These players will be grouped into two star-studded sides of Desailly XI, which will be led by Ghanaian-born former French Captain, Marcel Desailly and Appiah XI, to be led by inspirational Black Stars Captain and Fernabache midfielder, Stephen Appiah.

Among the players who will be appearing in this memorable game being sponsored by Interplast Ghana Limited are Laryea Kingston of Terek Gronzy, Russia, AS Roma’s Samuel Osei Kuffour, Baba Amando of Russia, former Starlets Captain, Godwin Attram, Derek Boateng of AIK Solna, Sweden, Shai Adebayor of Togo and Ghanaian-born German Striker, Gerald Asamoah.

Others are former Starlets midfielder, Awudu Issaka, Otto Addo of Mainz, Germany, Senegal Skipper, Aliou Cisse, Black Stars defender, Issah Ahmed, former Black Stars and Leeds united striker Tony Yeboah and former Black Stars Skipper, C.K Akunnor.

Liberty Professionals Technical Director, Sir Cecil Jones Attuqyaefio and his Gomoa Feteh Feyenoord colleague, Coach Sam Arday, will be the ceremonial coaches for the match.

Avanti Solutions, organisers of the event, decided to put it together to raise funds for Orphanage Africa which has a home in Dodowa and a wellness centre in Adenta in Accra.

Proceeds from the cup match will be channelled towards the development of infrastructure which will include a football pitch at the orphanage’s new site at Dodowa.
